About Wearing Social
We’ve seen a lot of t-shirt companies popping up around the idea of personalized social networking shirts, but usually in the form of Spreadshirt-type shops where you can change some text and that’s it. Wearing Social is interesting in that it actually uses data derived from a user’s account to create a personalized graphic. There are six designs for both Facebook and Twitter, with designs as simple as displaying your Twitter handle to mosaics made from your friends’/followers’ profile pictures. As a neat extension of the theme, you earn $3 off your purchase if you share your customized tee on a social network. While all of this is a novel idea and an interesting use of current technology, I’m not sure it’s wearable for the majority of folks. I also wish that you could see the prices of the shirts without signing into the service with your social networking account.
