About Typography Shop
Pay attention, type freaks: this store is for you. It even says it in the name! Started in 2008 by Philadelphia painter and designer Patrick King, Typography Shop mostly focuses on the subtle beauty of the famous Helvetica typeface. However, they also feature a number of shirts with references to type lingo (“sans”, “serif”, “kerned”, etc.) and typography design in general. The designs tend to be very simple, mostly consisting of nothing but the type itself — no fancy images, textures, or illustration. This minimalism allows the type to shine as its own design. My only qualm is that some of the prints are on the small side.
The Typography Shop runs a full-featured line including women’s tees, tank tops, and kid’s sizes on top of standard men’s tees. It’s always great to see a shop make their designs available for people of all shapes!
A portion of sales are donated to design education programs.
