Info, Deals, and Coupons for Design By Humans
DBH are an outstanding design contest and just about the only contest competing somewhere near the level of the t-shirt monster that is Threadless, at least in the USA. They print one new shirt every day with the winner receiving $500, but with additional prizes meaning one winning design can win up to $8,500. There’s always something new and they specialize in over-sized prints with an outstanding mix of advanced printing techniques like pastels of up to seven colours and glow in the darks. Read a tee-junction interview with them from when they first started here and here.

A lot of their tees aren’t really my style with overly large prints that tend to look a bit strange on a shirt in my opinion, but they do have some amazing shirts and their DBH Perfect Tee blanks are by a long way the nicest and softest blanks I have ever worn much nicer than any AA, Alstyle, Gildan or any other blank I have tried, they truly are the perfect blank!

Design By Humans has a huge collection of shirts designed by community artists. Their prices are a little high at $25 a shirt, but you can get the “shirt of the day” for $20. You can also get their SerendipiTee (a random shirt from their collection) for $10. I received “Keep Fierce”, a decent design regularly priced at $24.
I think the shirts are printed on American Apparel blanks, but I can’t be sure about that. One of my shirts had a special black tag stating it was 50/50 poly/cotton blend. Another shirt had a “tagless” print on the inside of the shirt stating it was 100% cotton. Neither showed the manufacturer of the shirt.
Shipping costs are very reasonable, $3 for 2 shirts in my order. Shipping was via FedEx Smartpost, which utilizes the USPS for the final leg of delivery. So I could track my package somewhat, and shipping time was a little over a week.
If you don’t mind paying $25 per shirt, you are bound to find some artist on their site that you will like.

Normally, DBH prices are too high ($25 a shirt) for me, so I was quite thrilled when they marked down a bunch of nice shirts for their anniversary sale. This is my first DBH order and I’m pleased with what I received — the ink is a little heavy and I’m not sure if I like the cut of the girly tees, but they are very comfortable and soft. Shipping is also very reasonable at ~$3 for two shirts, not to mention my package was shipped out the day after I placed the order, even though they must be receiving a load of customers from the sale. I’ll definitely be coming around again during the next sale.

What sets this site apart is the large scale in which the designs are printed onto the shirts– a concept I’ve always been a fan of. If you’re going to pay $25 for a shirt, you might as well pay for a striking desing that demands attention and compliments from friends and strangers alike.
The majority of the designs (whether or not they fit your personal style every time) are usually pretty stellar and involve interesting themes. I find this site to be a great alternate to shopping on Threadless. -

Design by Humans is one of my favorite shirt competition sites. The designs are always fabulous and I love the quality of their shirts. Their tees used to be great enough as they were and now they’re even softer and better cut. Price is somewhat high when there’s no sale, but it’s definitely worth your money! Great art on great quality t-shirts, what more could you ask for?

Although their prices are higher than the other sites, they have the best everything. The best designs, if you’re fond of something more artsy. The best print, with all-over prints and the softest touch you can have. The best shirts, if you like me prefer 50/50 over the AA-like 100% cotton ones. The fastest shipping, having I received my international order in just one week! I just wish they’d do sales more often, since there are still lot’s of have-to-buy shirts there.

Design by Humans have very nicely designed shirts. If you are looking for artistic shirts than this is the place to go. Their prints are executed very well but the shirts are expensive compared to other sites. They often have sales going on so if you are on a budget make sure to capitalize on them. The shipping charges are reasonable which is refreshing to see.
If you want to buy some awesome looking t-shirts, make sure to check out DBH.

Design By Humans is another reason that I will never regret having added Stumble to my Firefox. The first time my eyes gazed upon this site with all it’s wonderful designs I was overwhelmed and wanted to order every single shirt available. At first I just checked the site every day and started to pick out my favorite designs. Then I finally decided to become a member and to place my first order.
Although I went over the idea of buying something on line and having it shipped to Mexico over and over, There was no turning back now. There were many great designs and the sites policy sounds amazing. The basic premise of the site is that as a member you have the right to vote on designs and to submit your own. Your designs can win various contests be that of Shirt of the Day, of the Week or of the Month. besides that there are various precious stone themed member status, depending on the number of t shirts sold. This sort of T-shirt democracy motivates us buyers to support designers from around the world and at the same time sport a T-shirt that stands above the rest.
The first order arrived within 7 days , which was surprising, having been an international order. (the national post in third world countries is not very reliable, packages come complete but with the wrapping torn.) DBH was kind enough to supply a tracking code that at least tracked the package to its final destination in the US. Although prices for international shipping are high, the service is worth the 40 dollars extra.
Recently having order from a website that sells shirts for 6 dollars, I understood the value of a DBH shirt. Ranging from the quality of the shirt to it’s designs that are original creations of designers from around the world and not overplayed designs that wore themselves out a couple of years ago. The only problem that I find with DBH is the lack of reprints on many shirts that were instant best sellers. The site has had a new look for a several months now but their catalog has been somewhat reduced.
Overall I must say that DBH is a great site for buying and submitting designs that a great relief from those ironic shirts that have passed on to the trend cementery only to be revived next decade. my suggestion is to become a member, have your picture taken with one of the shirts and just generally be a good Human
