About Threadless
Threadless are the face of t-shirts online. The first successful t-shirt design contest they are the pioneers who started this whole movement and they’re still rocking. They listen, they engage, they entertain, they make great shirts. With access to some of the best designers, a theoretical top prize of $22,500 although the average winner will get a package worth $2,500. So they attract the top designers and produce consistently outstanding shirts, about 10 new designs a week. You should also follow them on Facebook and Twitter where they are very active and are always running a contest or promotion or giveaway or just producing some random hilarity. In recent times they’ve taken some stick for being too popular, which is no doubt true, but while they’re anything but obscure its their attitude that keeps them acting small and being relevant.

Threadless has become a victim of its own success.
Amazing designs. So many infact that so many amazing ones get overlooked by the voting system. It’s a shame that they only print 10 (+4 pre-order) designs a week. But that’s neither here nor there for this review, merely an observation.
Review! – Designs, amazing!
Price! 10$ sale – cha-ching! Woo!
Quality – WTH consistency people, consistency. Shirts are THIN like paperesque thin. Ink is alright, not outstanding. Sizing….REALLY? More inconsistencies. All 2x, 3 are unbreathably tight 4 are just fine and a little on the loose side. Hoodie was okay, but for 45$ it bleeding better be, ya know.
Website – Get someone on the ball please…nothing worse than clicking on a shirt to find out the PRICE LISTED CHANGES WHEN SELECTED into the cart…. yes you can call CS to fix it… really?? Stop being lazy and make sure your site functions. This is also a pain in the arse when ordering hoodies that are displayed at a sale price…but…click….ooops T-shirt only, not hoodie. Chalking that whole thing up to “but it’s too hard and we have too many” = Lazy!
Shipping – Pitiful. International shipping is terrible. No tracking unless you select the MUCH higher shipping cost. COURIER shipping within the USA and then gets passed over to local post at the boarder….can we say…”welcome to customs” for a month…
This is a direct result of using a partial courier system. USPS is faster and more efficient than a courier who cannot/does not fill in paperwork correctly, and ditches the product at the boarder with no follow-through into the next country…this equals packages locked up in customs for a month.
3rd time this has happened where items take 6 weeks to get from Threadless to my front door.
Oh and because of them using a courier, I get dinged a courier charge of 40$ for them failing to fill in the right paperwork. (HST import charges are nominal 14$ as they are expected as taxation so federal/provincial tax is not part of this rant)
Hey Threadless, cut it out and ship things like normal people with USPS, it takes 2 weeks to arrive in Canada and has NO courier 40$ smackdown. Which is ridiculous for 100$ worth of shirts
So overall… LOVE designs, LOVE the community, dislike the inconsistencies and really BOO on shipping.
Absolutely love the artwork, but quality of the shirts is terrible. Many girl shirts are see-through or very thin, but some look just fine. Overall I think it just depends on what design you plan to get, and whether it’s a light color or a dark color.
Well, as a long time threadless customer I have to say that their quality has gone way downhill. The actual art is good but the quality on the silk screen is TERRIBLE, many people have had the same problem and they do nothing to fix it. They use the crutch of “oh it makes it unique” Foul odors are not a good kind of unique, Hooded sweatshirts that have the silk screen accross the zipper are also not a good type of unique. Shirts that are supposed to glow that do not… well thats just super bad quality control.
I sent back a sweatshirt like that, and they just sent me another one just as terrible. Why bother, especially when they are $45 a pop… You can get better quality at that price elsewhere.
Am still waiting for my first order to arrive. First time ever I ticked something like express delivery at a higher cost, and of course, “it bites me”. 5 to 10 days? Today is day 10, no delivery. And 37$ is rather a high fee (even international shipment-wise) compared to the other stores I order from.
Am still very excited about the tees though..
FORGOT TO STAR RATE!! 5 across the board!
I placed my first order with them not too long ago and I LOVE the quality of the shirts! Even better than expected. One of my shirts was slightly defective as far as paint smears, but I sent it back for an exchange. They got in touch quickly re the matter and refunded back the cost of shipping I had to pay in order to ship it back to them. They sent a customized email re: my exchange and offered a $5 off coupon for the inconvience. Thats awesome CS in my book. Also after placing my first order i recieved an email with $5 off as a welcome gift. I think the Street Team option is great. For every sale made by your referral you get a credit of $1.50 and those will add up. Also with my first order I just did standard shipping and it was here in 2 days. the cost of shipping is also on the low side so thats a big +. Just placed my second order yesterday and cant wait to get the 3 new ones plus my exhange is alreday on the way back to me. Love when then send an email alert of $10 shirts or low stock on a design/size I want. Will DEFINITELY be ordering from them when the bank acct allows!!
I love threadless design and their tees quality. They have price slash promotions from time to time, you can get tees as low as $5! I have some bad experience with their shipping, my tees didn’t arrive. For international shipping you better buy 5 -10 or more tees. Smaller number of tees ordered will be packed in a bag and this usually won’t get to your hand. For large quantity of tees, they usually shipped in a box. Tips, wait for their price slash and buy 10 or more tees.
Just got my order of three type tees and I’m rather unhappy. The pictures of two of them online clearly displayed them as being off white in color (no other color choices to choose from) and the third was represented as a light gray color. Imagine my surprise when I opened my package and found three KHAKI colored tees. Not cool. First of all, there were no other color options to choose from (no biggie..I don’t mind off-white or light grey–but seriously…khaki? WTF? Who wears khaki colored tees? The sizes (for the girly shirts) really do run small. I ordered a large (because most sizes do run small) but I can barely squeeze into the large. Even the XL I bought as a lounging around the house shirt was snug. I’m not fat at all…big breasted, but it was even small in the waist area. Due to the unpredictable sizing and the color of tees I received, I won’t be ordering from them again. This kinda bums me out because I think their type tees are rather clever. To illustrate that I am not color blind (or my computer just doesn’t see colors accurately..not the case I assure you) check out the colors on the following shirts:
1.) Actually, Medicine is the Best Medicine (should be off white–compare it to the background color).
2.) It’s just safer to assume I know karate (should be off white).
3.) If you can read this…Make me a sandwich (should be light gray).
Khaki is the ONLY color that accurately describes what I ended up with. = (
The saddest thing about threadless is that their only paying-method is credit-card. there are sooo many shirts I would buy if it wasn’t so complicated for me to get someone to order the shirts for me. aside from that, threadless is just a good-feel-place with amazingly creative community-artists. offer pay pal guys!
Great T-Shirts with great designs. Shipping was pretty cheap seeing how I live overseas… the overall product is brilliant.
I’m not sure how many t-shirts I have from here, but their annual sales offer great prices and designs. Shipping might hurt your wallet a little bit, but it’s still all good.
A community of design submitters means great picks for almost everyone. They got you covered whether you want artsy, flashy, text, or humorous. The options for pricing is also a big plus. There’s a reason they’re one of the most well-known t-shirt sites!
Offering a wide selection of unique designs, Threadless is a great site to find a great shirt for a great deal. I recently picked up a shirt for $5 and wore it on a road trip through 3 different states. In every state, people commented on it for it’s originality. I’d recommend this site to everyone looking to find a shirt that will turn-heads.
Most of the time Threadless tees are too expensive. I want to buy a whole bunch of designs right when they come out, but 18 dollars plus shipping is a little too much. However, there are great sales several times a year and I pick up several 5 dollars shirts, which is a great deal. 90 percent of the designs that Threadless prints I really enjoy. Shipping can take a little long sometimes. It seems like it used to be better (quicker). Overall Threadless is great, I love the blog community and the critique section.
Great price. Unbeatable sale among all tee selling merchants. Designs are great, but hope to see more designs targetting at “elders” group. International shipping costs are acceptable. Thumbs up!!!
Price-wise, Threadless leans on the better side of things. Although their newer shirts are priced at $18, they have regular sales that can knock prices down to as low as $5 or $10. Shipping is a tad too pricey for my liking, but it isn’t terrible.
The designs, as always, are terrific and well-printed. I’m not a big fan of the Threadless tees, though — the fabric feels a little thin, and their AA shirts tend to look better on me. Thankfully, they seem to be reverting to AA blanks.
Lots of designs. Print quality is great. They print some shirts on american apparel and some on their own threadless tees. I prefer the AA shirts, the threadless shirts are good, but a bit less soft and have less “give” or stretchiness. Customer service is great – my shipment was either lost or stolen from my front door and Threadless shipped out a replacement with no hassle at all. Also one of the best store websites – easy to search and filter by size, etc.
At first, I didn’t get what all the Threadless hype was about…until I took a really good look at the site and the community. First of all, they have a voting system where members can vote and comment, but also this is not the only factor. This makes it a more fair contest rather than those that can get “padded”. But, best of all are the shirts and some of the artists there are among the best in the t-shirt universe. I really feel that there is something for everyone and I bought my first batch a while ago during one of their amazing sales. Now, those shirts are among my favorites and I’ve gone back many times for more. The quality is great and I love the fit. Now my favorite shirts are the Threadless ones. I am now addicted…sigh. But, happily so.
Their regular price isn’t as good as other sites (specially the shirt-a-day ones), but they now or then do some great sales, with shirts going for $5. They have a variety of designs that no other site has, so you’re bound to find at least some shirts that please you. The shipping is somewhat fast for international orders, although not so cheap, specially if you’re ordering lots of shirts.
I can’t even count all of the tees I have from Threadless. They have been one of my favorite t-shirt companies for years and I continue to love what they deliver. They constantly improve their community and have reached out to the fans on sites such as twitter and facebook. Although I am not always happy with their t-shirts (seams like to fall out after a single wash), I do love the quality of the prints. They are going back to AA shirts now, which I am very happy with, since their custom tees weren’t as sturdy in my opinion. Shipping is usually quick, and customer service is fantastic.
I ordered now 2 times at threadless. Positive is that they offer a lot of limited designs and that the community can vote, which design they want. The prices are o.k.. But especially at the Sales they regulary have all over the year you can really make some bargains ( for example Tees for 5$).
The quality is good, but the shits are pretty airy.
The first order I purchased arrived within 3 weeks (international). But I´m still waiting for the last order which I ordered at the first Juny with Priority Express. So the shipping times should be enhanced.
All in all I´m pleased of this shop and it is one of my favorites, because they offer so much diffrent designs and that I can take part of choosing designs.
I purchased 3 shirts from Threadless for their Spring Cleaning sale. When they arrived, one was improperly sized such that it was still a M but whenever I crouched, the back of the shirt would be too short. Also another one was not expected, meaning one had a graphic that was small and hard to see on the background. The last shirt was entirely fine, I was slightly upset about the experience but not pissed off. I am probably one of the rare occurrences that had issues with the shirts.
Also, about the shirts, they do not fit nor feel like American Apparel so do not expect that, instead a looser fit and slightly rougher. But it is not something to be terribly aggravated by.
In the end, if you really like a shirt by Threadless, you should purchase it. If only a little bit, I would think about it longer.
