Busted Tees opened in March, 2004 and is entirely run by the guys from CollegeHumor.com. Its risen to become a tshirt behemoth, you’ll see it across the web advertised on a plethora of sites on any topic that appeals to the young, hipster crowd. Of the slogan t-shirt crowd, we’d say they’re the best especially as they have an exclusive arrangement with Tee-Junction favourites – someecards and defunker. I had my eye on a few shirts at Busted Tees, but they were mostly out of stock for my size. Each shirt design page shows the stock for a given shirt size, and allows you to enter your email address to be notified when the size is back in stock. It took about three weeks for the shirts I wanted to be back in stock.
Most of their shirts cost around $20, with a few on sale for $8. Every Monday, they release 3 or 4 new designs for $17 for the week. I waited for a store-wide sale when shirts cost $14. Also, shipping is free for orders of four shirts or more which is done via UPS three-day select.
I received email notifications for my receipt, order placement, and shipment. The shirts arrived in a UPS plastic bag. They were very wrinkled, but otherwise fine. Shirts are printed on American Apparel all cotton blanks.
I had a major issue with one of the shirts I ordered, “Vintage Vantage: For The Birds”. The pictures of shirt designs on their site are quite small and cannot be zoomed in like other sites. The “For The Birds” design looked to me to be a solid print. However the shirt I received revealed the design to be splotchy, as if the ink had not filled in the design completely. I utilized the customer support contact form page to ask for a reprint since I thought it was a poor transfer on my shirt. Customer support replied within 24 hours to say that the shirt was meant to look “distressed”. I replied that I was unhappy with that since I felt it just look bad, and asked if I could exchange it for another design. Apparently their system is not set up to handle exchanging designs, but it was very easy to return the shirt. Return shipping was prepaid. All I had to do was drop the shirt (in an envelope) at the post office.
While many of the Busted Tees designs/slogans are similar to shirts you can find elsewhere, they are executed well, and there are a few original designs that are nice. Shipping is high for just a few shirts ($6 first + $1.50 second), but four shirts gets you free shipping. Best of all, my customer service experience was very positive.
Busted Tee is known for its trendy shirts. These shirts are often funny but they can also be very offensive to others. Compared to the many other t-shirt selling sites, there designs are not all that great. They have a large catalog of shirts so you may find something that interests you. The shipping fees I believe are a little but too high. For one shirt the shipping is $5.99 and $1.50 for each additional shirt. One good idea they have is that if you buy 4 shirts you get free UPS shipping.
I would not recommend busted tees but you may like it. Check it out and be a judge.
I love what I find on Busted Tees. I also like how they have the free t-shirt promotion where you complete an offer. They have frequent sales, which is wonderful. I love that they sometimes have shirts that allow me to reminisce in my childhood, such as the Reptar tee or The Beets tee. They ship pretty quickly too. I do wish that they packaged better, because I don’t like getting tees that are just thrown into a bag and all wrinkly.
